It's hard to believe that summer is really over. Back to the grind of normal routine.
September is my most favourite month of the year and I'm loving the cool nights, the leaves already changing colour and the different blue the sky seems to be in the fall.
Looking back over the summer, I wonder what I did. Other than making pickles, what exactly did I accomplish? I read several books, I managed to plan school for the year, I stayed on top of the laundry, cooking and cleaning but really, other than that...not too much.
Our big holiday begins this week. We're headed for a week in Vermont ~ camping, touring, resting, relaxing etc. It's the best time of year to go on a holiday as all the kids are in school, the crowds are gone and the only other people at the campgrounds are seniors with fabulous RV's bigger and better than my own home. We can hardly wait.
Once our holiday is over, we begin school and the regular day to day schedule begins. Regular bedtimes, normal mealtimes, and the like -- and I'm really looking forward to that too. Perhaps it's life with small children, perhaps it's my personality type, but I like a regular routine that is somewhat predictable.
Jack is very excited about school. Almost every day he asks me if this is the day he gets to do his school books. The other night at bedtime we took turns saying bedtime prayers. Jack's prayer was simple. "Please keep my schoolbooks safe in the basement. Amen."
jack is ready for school?? oh my, how that time flew! we are heading out this week too, more crazy homeschoolers on the road. we however, are going to be driving one of those old people rvs...my inlaws got a fifth wheel and are letting us use it. :) ahhh..i'm not sure we can really call it camping...
ReplyDeletewish we could meet up. that SHOULD be a plan for next fall. I LOVE september too, my all time fave, and this year it's the nicest (warmest) weather we've had all summer. miss you! have a great holiday!! darc
